Bree Barth held a bake sale to benefit the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
Bree Barth, a third-grade student at Neidig Elementary School, loves baking and helping others. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic she’s been asking her mom when they could hold a bake sale to raise money for the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
Last weekend that day arrived and Bree sold her baked goods at the Richlandtown Borough Community Yard Sale.
She raised $242.33, more than double her goal!
Several Quakertown Community School Board members took notice of Bree’s efforts and praised her.
“The bake sale was her idea,” said her Mom, Toni Becker, who added that Bree said she wanted to “help sick kids get medicine.”
Bree chose the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation because they help fund new treatments and medicine for pediatric cancer. “She put a lot of work into planning, including holding family bake sale meetings, preparing and baking,” Mom said.
Bree said she was inspired by fellow Neidig student Caleb Byelich, who raised money for Advocates for the Homeless of Upper Bucks, which operates the Quakertown Code Blue Shelter.
Neidig Principal Scott Godshalk said “Bree's work with this bake sale is another shining example of her outstanding leadership skills. We are so proud of her for taking action to help others in need.”
