QCSD Message to the community

To the Parents and Guardians of Students in the Quakertown Community School District:

Last evening, we received communication regarding a potential safety concern associated with the student-led protest planned for today, February 20, 2026. As a result, and in the interest of student and staff safety, and in coordination with law enforcement, the administration advised that the student-led walkout should no longer occur, and families and students were notified this morning at approximately 6:45 AM.

At 11:30 AM today, approximately 35 Quakertown High School students left the school building without permission and proceeded to Front Street in Quakertown. The district received notification from local law enforcement that students were engaging in unsafe and disruptive behavior in town. District administrators immediately coordinated with the police and placed the High School and Quakertown Elementary into an external lockdown to preserve a safe learning environment. During this time, students in both schools maintained their normal schoolday activities.  As with any lockdown, no one was permitted to enter or leave the school buildings during this time. At approximately 1:15 PM the lockdown was lifted and all school operations returned to normal.

The district is actively investigating multiple reports regarding the actions of any student who left the building without permission. The district is awaiting more information from the police.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priority. The district has requested a police presence at dismissal to ensure student, family, and staff safety.

The district believes strong communication with students, families, and staff is important in navigating challenging situations. Additional information will be shared as we learn more about the events of today.

On behalf of the entire school district community, I want to extend my gratitude to the students who remained in school, to the staff members who assisted in keeping students and their colleagues safe, and to our many law enforcement and emergency safety partners who immediately came to our aid.

Sincerely,

Dr. Lisa Hoffman
Acting Superintendent of Schools
Quakertown Community School District
