On Tuesday evening (2/17/26), Neidig Elementary hosted a wonderful family engagement event centered on the importance of reading with your child. Kindergarten through second-grade families were welcomed with hot chocolate and popcorn, and many students embraced the “Bedtime Stories” theme by wearing their pajamas.

Ms. Derr, Title I Student Support Teacher, greeted families and read aloud Bears’ New Friend by Karma Wilson. She also shared engaging questions parents can ask during nightly reading to deepen comprehension, spark meaningful conversations, and enhance the overall reading experience.

Each child received a copy of The Interrupting Chicken and the Elephant of Surprise by David Ezra Stein, along with a bookmark featuring helpful prompts to guide reading at home.

Thank you to Mr. Godshalk and Ms. Derr for organizing such a meaningful and memorable evening that supports literacy and strengthens our school community.
